GORMLEY, Ontario, Canada – December 21, 2009 – Digital Leisure Inc. a leading developer and publisher of interactive video-based titles and console games, is thrilled to announce that arcade classic Dragon’s Lair is slicing up the handheld gaming market.
Recently partnering with EA Mobile, Dragon’s Lair was launched on to Apple’s AppStore with great fanfare and excitement. Within 48 hours of launch, Dragon’s Lair firmly planted itself in the Top 10 of all paid Apps, and by mid-week was the number 2 top grossing app. Following up on this success, Digital Leisure today launched Dragon’s Lair on Nintendo’s DSiWare™ service.
“The community is really embracing retro gaming across all platforms.” says David Foster, President of Digital Leisure. “People remember when they first saw Dragon’s Lair in the arcades 25 years ago, and now they want to share that experience with a new generation!”
The first arcade game to cost 50 cents to play, Dragon’s Lair has become a true cultural phenomenon enjoyed by millions of gamers, young and old, around the world since its original release over 25 years ago. It is one of only two arcade games in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institution and now can be enjoyed on-the-go by a new generation of gamers on the Nintendo DSi!
Digital Leisure plans to follow up Dragon’s Lair with a series of exclusive DSiWare titles for the Nintendo DSi coming next year.
