Social Game Universe lands Visionary Investors and Launches Ground-breaking Social Games

December 10, 2009

TORONTO, ON – Thursday, December 10, 2009 – Social Game Universe, a social games innovator based in Toronto, announced today that thousands of players have begun beta testing its first applications on Facebook: Hollywood Tycoon (single player version rated 4/5 stars by Jayisgames.com and called one of the best casual tycoon games available) and Avastar (a finalist for Most Innovative Online Game at the Canadian New Media Awards).

It’s no coincidence that two games that let players build dream studios and become stars have been made possible by real-life media moguls. Investors in Social Game Universe include Eli Cohl and Michael Cohl, world-renowned music industry innovators and promoters of bands like U2 and the Rolling Stones, Clive Smith, co-founder of legendary animation studio Nelvana, Standard Broadcasting’s Gary Slaight, former Yale Prof., behavioral finance virtuoso and founder of Zero Footprint and Algorithmics Ron Dembo, former Universal Music Canada CFO Bruce Hooey and media visionary Moses Znaimer, co-founder of Citytv/MuchMusic and creator of Zoomer Media.

"It's an honor to be working with such a talented and visionary group of investors," said Nathon Gunn, CEO of Social Game Universe.

"The promise of this very innovative team and their products” said Michael Cohl, “is that 'social gaming' has really only begun to scratch the surface of what’s possible."

"Our goal” added Gunn "is to truly enable the 'social' aspect of social gaming. We're excited about our innovations in this area, which we'll be unveiling in Q1, 2010."
