This year the Canadian entertainment and media industries are expected to
make a major post-recession comeback, with a growth of 5% compound annual
growth rate (CARG) through to 2014, according to the a
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) report titled Global Entertainment and Media
Outlook: 2010 to 2014.

INTERACTIVE ONTARIO WELCOMES MAX BERDOWSKI AS VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

CMF's Experimental Stream Application Form Online now

The Experimental Stream supports the creation of innovative Canadian interactive digital media content and application software. This program is designed to support the research and development of leading-edge content and applications intended to facilitate the distribution of Canadian content.
Projects funded through this program must be developed for commercial use through the Canadian media industry or public use by Canadians. Funding is allocated according to a selective process using an evaluation matrix. For details, read the Experimental Stream guidelines.

From March 9th -13th 2010 I was fortunate to be able to attend GDC San Francisco. It was five days of lectures, panels, tutorials and roundtable discussions on a comprehensive selection of game development topics taught by leading industry experts.
GDC San Francisco is the largest of the GDC conferences in the world, with an estimated 18,000 attendees, 400 lectures, and many panels, tutorials, and roundtable discussions.

Silicon Knights get $4-million boost

Welland Tribune Silicon Knights is getting nearly $4 million in federal money to create a new video game, leaving community leaders gushing the region is one step closing to being a gaming capital.
The St. Catharines company will use the money to create a new high-end game for multiple platforms and will immediately create 65 additional jobs.
Glenn Wong Appointed to Canada Media Fund Board of Directors

Nominated by the Department of Canadian Heritage, Mr. Wong is an executive management consultant and former President of Electronic Arts Canada and Rogers Cable TV (BC).
CMF Outreach Sessions

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is holding outreach sessions across the country to provide applicants with details regarding the 2010-2011 guidelines for funding and to answer questions.
The meeting will be led by Nathalie Clermont, Director, CMF Program Management, along with Roxane Girard, Director, CMF Program Administrator | Telefilm Canada, Francesca Accinelli, Director, English Market, and Stéphane Consantino, Director, French Market.
