CMF Industry Consultation 2010

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) will begin a new round of consultation sessions with the industry this fall. Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, and Stephane Cardin, VP of Industry and Public Affairs, will meet with stakeholders across the country to gain input on key issues to be resolved prior to releasing the program guidelines for 2011-2012 in December.
Please register by selecting a location near you. Exact times and locations will be provided to registrants by email prior to each event.
New this year, stakeholders who are unable to attend a session in person can participate through an online discussion forum. More details will be provided in the coming weeks.

Jordan Mechner, Creator of the Prince of Persia franchise to Keynote IN 2010

Author, screenwriter and video game designer Jordan Mechner is best
known as the creator of the Prince of Persia franchise, with over 14
million games sold to date, and a feature film, books, toys and LEGO
based on the games.
Mechner became the first game creator to successfully adapt his own work
as a feature film screenwriter with Disney's Prince of Persia: The
Sands of Time . Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Mike Newell
and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Sir Ben Kingsley, and
Alfred Molina, Prince of Persia was the #1 movie in the world for its
first two weeks of release in May 2010, and is the world's
highest-grossing video game adaptation ever. Mechner has screen story
and executive producer credit on the film.

KidsCo has announced launches in Cyprus, Poland and Turkey adding as
a result almost one million European homes to its reach. In Cyprus,
the channel has made its debut on Cablenet, while in Poland it is being
carried on VOD by Multimedia Poska, Poland's third largest cable
operator. In Turkey, the channel is being carried on TTNet. KidsCo is a
joint venture between NBC Universal, Corus Entertainment Inc (Nelvana)
and Cookie Jar Entertainment. Aimed at children aged 6-10 and families,
it made its debut in September 2007.

IGDA Executive Director Quitting

EDGE Joshua Caulfield will step down as executive director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) this August.
Caulfield took his role at the IGDA, a non-profit membership organisation serving game developers, in July 2009. He hailed from outside of the games industry, replacing Jason Della Rocca who had held the position for almost nine years. Caulfield will be moving on to take the same job post at an association for architecture students.

OMDC INTERACTIVE DIGITAL MEDIA FUND- DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 20, 2010 (BY 5:00 PM)

Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) is pleased to announce a new deadline for the OMDC Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Fund.
The OMDC IDM Fund is designed to provide Ontario interactive digital media content companies with access to the final piece of funding required to move their content projects into production. Successful applicants will receive a non-refundable contribution of up to $150,000 to a maximum of 50% of the project budget to create a market-ready interactive digital media content product.
