| Description | Position Title: Community Coordinator Accountable to: Producer, Interactive; Earth Rangers Earth Rangers is a registered charity which educates children about the importance of biodiversity and inspires them to adopt more sustainable practices to protect endangered habitats and species. Earth Rangers operates in schools and communities across Ontario, and through a permanent studio at the Royal Ontario Museum. Our programs have been doubling in size every year, and in 2010 we expect to reach over 1 million children and their families. Launched in May 2009, EarthRangers.com is Canada’s largest online community of environmentally minded children. With the help of environmentally themed information and Eco-Feats projects, children are able to interact with their friends and make a real difference. In 2010, Earth Rangers will launch the “Bring Back the Wild” program, an individual fundraising program through which children will raise money to protect endangered habitats across the country. Key Responsibilities: o Integrate copy and design elements on the EarthRangers.com site, and using third-party CMS tools: o Eco-Feats Articles, Eco-Feats Activities, Animal Ambassador biographical and natural history info, Game content, Homepage promotions, Contests, Email Blasts, etc. o Perform daily health and performance checks on key areas of the site. o Engage with the EarthRangers.com community on the Boards, and through occasional editorial updates. o Fill in for the Moderator on vacation or sick days, and as needed. o Provide regular reports on the site, contest, email blast performance using internal analytics tools, and on web rankings using ComScore data. o Assist the Producer in preparing monthly growth charts for the site. o Research and keep abreast of trends, products, and experiences in the online industry, as requested by the Producer. |
| Qualifications | Qualifications: o 2+ years in a content management / web editorial role, particularly with properties geared towards kids or teens. o Passions for the environment, and the empowerment of children. o Familiarity with trends in online content and community management. o Familiarity with web technologies, platforms, and services such as: o Content Management Systems (Drupal/Mambo/Wordpress/MediaWiki) o XML o Google Analytics, or comparable analytics platforms o Email Send/List Management platforms o Comfort and proficiency in the use of productivity software such as Microsoft Office – including Entourage/Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, and Word – on the Mac OS and/or Window platforms. o Independent management skills in a multidisciplinary and interdepartmental environment. o Excellent communication skills.
