As Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Annette Frymer is responsible for the overall corporate development of the company and the management of its strategic growth, specifically focusing on the company’s core properties, as well as overseeing corporate, legal and business affairs. Additionally, she has acted as executive producer for a number of CCI Entertainment productions, including Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs and Monster by Mistake.
In 1985 Annette joined her first television production company as Director of Business Affairs and has worked in the industry ever since. Her experience includes not only television productions, but also productions for theatrical release, multimedia, book and magazine publishing. Previous professional work highlights includes, Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Paragon Entertainment Corporation and Director of Business & Legal Affairs for Owl Communications Inc.
As Senior Business Manager, Interactive for marblemedia, Sasha Boersma oversees marblemedia’s interactive production slate from concept to proposal writing, to production and deployment. She also supervises the integration of the interactive production unit with other areas of the company (television production, post production, marketing and development). Prior to this post, Sasha was marblemedia’s Business Affairs Administrator, managing contracts, funding proposals, and distribution analysis and reporting. Previously the Program Manager at the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund / Independent Production Fund, Sasha has studied both Radio and Television Arts and Marketing Management at Ryerson University. A part-time instructor on Marketing and Digital Media for Centennial College’s Children’s Entertainment Program, Sasha is also a regular guest speaker on the topic of business affairs of convergent media production at various post-secondary institutions.
Tony Walsh is a multi-disciplined senior creative specializing in digital games. He has helped plan and execute Web and cross-platform projects since the early 1990s. Internationally-noted as a thought-leader in the area of games and game-culture, Walsh produces and directs game projects through his Toronto-based production company, Phantom Compass.
As founding director of Phantom Compass, Walsh leads the company in providing products and services to broadcasters and media producers in Canada, the US and UK. Since 2008, he has co-written the interactive component of BBC Three series "Spooks: Code 9," created an Alternate Reality Game in support of Hollywood B-movie "Bangkok Dangerous" and co-produced a suite of games for a CBC TV series. He is currently at work on several educational games on such topics as Greek drama, civic engagement, and the Klondike Gold Rush.
He has developed and taught game design courses for George Brown College and Centennial College in Canada. He has coached film, television, and interactive producers for the CBC (Canada), AFTRS (Australia), and for BAVC (USA). He is a professional associate of AFTRS, a “mastermind” with the Royal Academy of Art (The Hague, the Netherlands) and has been an advisory board member of Screenburn at SXSW (USA).
Jonas Brandon moved to Toronto from Canada’s southernmost province, Florida, where he studied law and worked in technology transfer (licensing 30 patented technologies developed at the University of Florida, including one for the inventor of Gatorade) and venture capital (managing 11 Seed and Series A investments).
Upon arriving in Canada, Jonas cofounded StartupNorth in order to bring together Canadian technology entrepreneurs and investors. Prior to joining Rogers Ventures Jonas cofounded two startups, backed by some of Canada’s leading angel investors. He led the formation of a company commercializing research from the University of Toronto and then grew an ecommerce company into a category leader. Jonas remains an advisor to both companies which continue to thrive.
His main area of interest is technology companies that leverage the economics of IP based delivery. Jonas brings his investment acumen, relentless energy, and commitment to the growth of Canadian startups to Rogers Ventures.
Bogdan Chmielewski is a co-founder and the CTO of Sweet Caesar. Since 2007 he has been leading the Sweet Caesar team to produce cutting edge mobile solutions, including the U2 Mobile Album, Toronto International Film Festival Mobile Application, RIM's WES2010 Mobile Guide and Developer Conference 2009 Mobile Guide. Sweet Caesar's clients include diverse firms such as IDEO, IDW Publishing, RIM and TIFF.
Bogdan holds a Masters degree in business administration from the Rotman School in Toronto, where he focussed on integrative thinking strategy that combines business and design thinking. He also holds a Bachelors degree in computer engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Don Henderson is the Studio General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Bedlam Games Inc., authorized developers for the Sony PlayStation3, Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii console platforms. Don brings more than ten years of legal and videogame experience to the Bedlam team. He has been credited on six console and PC titles with Toronto-based boutique publisher Groove Games.
Prior to entering the videogame industry, Don spent six years practicing law at Goodmans LLP where he represented clients in the software and interactive media industries, including Ontario-based video game developers and publishers. Don received an Honours B.A. degree from the University of Toronto (Trinity College) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and a member of the International Game Developers Association.
