The Business Model for Publishers - Go or NO GO.

"How the development deal looks from the point of view of the publisher"

Join us for our next gTalk session on June 29th, 2009 in Toronto. This gTalk session features Richard Wah Kan, Founder of DreamCatcher Interactive Inc., the largest producer and publisher of PC Adventure Games in North America.

Publishers makes decisions on games based on many factors.  Sometimes it's to build a franchise, sometimes it's a sequel, sometimes it's just a great game.  In every occasion, especially if there are consoles involved, it's always about revenue and profit.  Understanding the decision process a publisher makes is critical to getting the deal done.  Why are some games dropped at alpha or beta especially after a considerable sum is spent?  What about self publishing?  Is that becoming viable?
