Session Description
As broadcasters and producers adopt a blend of traditional and non-traditional strategies in delivering branded content, the use of iTV is on the rise as a vital component of cross platform content creation and delivery. CASE STUDY:
David Jacklin
Chief Producer
Littleloud Entertainment
Littleloud are Executive Producer David Jacklin and Creative Director Darren Garrett. Working together as business partners and joint owners of Littleloud for over 7 years, they have produced broadcast and interactive content to the movie, TV, and entertainment sector.
In the seven years that Littleloud has been running they have produced motion picture sequences, TV ads and motion graphics, directed live action shoots for broadcast and online, provided supporting interactive entertainment and video virals to the movie industry, plus developed their own range of animated show properties.
Recently they have been commissioned by Anne Gilchrist at CBBC to produce Tourists from Mars, an animated show with 3D presenters. This follows on from their last broadcast commission to produce The Mix Tape for T4. The show was built entirely around motion graphics and animated characters developed by Littleloud.
With their work for Paramount, Universal and Pathe pictures they have worked on some of the biggest releases of the last few years. Working closely with these film companies they have produced a range of innovative promotional material that expands on the film narrative. Work on titles such as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Iron Man, No Country for Old Men, Transformers, Stardust and King Kong has meant gaining personal approval on concepts and work by directors such as Peter Jackson, Michael Bay and Matthew Vaughn.
Recent interactive work has included Bow Street Runner for Channel 4 based on their acclaimed drama City of Vice. This epic project involved a week’s shoot, directed by Darren, to create over 60 minutes of period drama shot against green screen and combined with 3D assets and FX. This together with the interactive development directed by Littleloud's Paul Simpson has produced a piece of interactive entertainment where the gameplay and drama are perfectly balanced.

iLunch 6.01: The Future of Reading
The digital book: Friend or Foe? A discussion on the role of the publisher, the author and the reader in the online world
Friday October 5, 2007 @ The Gladstone Hotel
Discussion description
In a recent Walrus Magazine article, novelist Jon Evans says:
"…once a book is an e-book, once a text has been turned into pure information, then all the copy-right-protection scheme and intellectual-property lawyers in the world won't keep it from being made available for free..…In the not-too-distant future, all books will be freely available, just as essentially all popular music is right now."
Though not entirely novel, this idea needs to be addressed - NOW. What can publishers do to plan, create, innovate and position themselves in the online world? The advantages of the digital book are numerous – for example, the expenses saved on printing and shipping could be a boon for publishers, authors and consumers. BUT...By creating digital books, are publishers hastening their own demise; OR securing their continued position as the broker of content between the creators and the consumers?
Will Project Gutenberg become the next Kazaa or the next iTunes? As with most things in the digital world the early adaptors become the kings.
